What the UIC is

Isabel la Católica University is an online university in the humanities with a Catholic identity, grounded in the thought of St. Thomas Aquinas.

It offers bachelor’s and master’s degrees in philosophy, theology, psychology and history, with a traditional, demanding curriculum that reads the classics firsthand. It is sponsored by the Fundación San Elías, and since September 2026 it has been authorized in Florida, United States, to operate and to enroll online students from around the world.

How you study

  • Online, from any country

All you need is an internet connection. Classes, readings and exams are in Spanish.

  • Synchronous and asynchronous

A fully online, remote format with synchronous and asynchronous content and sessions, interactive modules and live tutoring.

  • The demands of a real degree

Reading the classics, written papers and a language exam: Latin in Philosophy and Theology, B1-level English in Psychology, and in History one classical language and one modern language at B1 level.

Six semesters for the bachelor’s and four for the master’s

The first semester starts in March 2027. Bachelor’s graduates can go on to the master’s in the same field.

The bachelor’s takes six semesters, or three years. The master’s adds four semesters, or two years. The first semester starts in March 2027.

Who is behind it

Frequently asked questions

What do I need to enroll?

You must be 18, have finished high school and have a good command of Spanish. There is no entrance exam, but to graduate each program also requires a language exam: Latin in Philosophy and Theology, B1-level English in Psychology, and in History one classical language and one modern language at B1 level.

Do I have to be Catholic?

No. The bachelor’s programs are open to anyone who meets the requirements. The university is Catholic and its programs follow St. Thomas, so you will read Plato, Aristotle and the Church Fathers alongside the Summa Theologiae. The Bachelor’s in Theology does presuppose the Catholic faith.

What degree will I receive?

The UIC is authorized to operate and enroll students in Florida, United States, and awards its own credentials, such as the Bachelor of Thomistic Philosophy. Recognition of the degree and professional licensing depend on each country, so if you need the degree for an official purpose, check first with the education authority where you live.

What language are classes taught in?

Everything is in Spanish, from classes and readings to exams. The classic texts are read in translation, so you don’t need another language to start; the one your program requires is tested before you finish the bachelor’s.

How are classes delivered?

Online and remotely. The program combines synchronous and asynchronous content and sessions, interactive modules and live tutoring. The workload is intensive and aims for excellence, and it is still compatible with a full-time job. We will share each program’s schedule before classes start in March 2027.

How much does it cost?

Tuition and scholarships have not been set yet. We will email them to you before enrollment opens, along with the calendar. Pre-registering is free.

Is there a master’s program?

Yes. Each bachelor’s continues into a four-semester master’s in the same field, with its own enrollment.

  • Master’s in Thomistic Philosophy
  • Master’s in Thomistic Theology
  • Master’s in Thomistic Psychology
  • Master’s in History with a Christian Foundation
How long does it take?

The bachelor’s takes six semesters, which is three consecutive years. The master’s adds four more semesters for those who want to continue. The first semester starts in March 2027.

Before enrollment opens, we will email you tuition and scholarship details.
